Musical brothers Johannes Bogaert (cello) and Pieter Bogaert (piano) grew up in Brussels, but now study in London and Amsterdam respectively. For Fratres, they come  together again to present a chamber music programme full of family connections.
Johannes and Pieter start in the Baroque with music by two members of the Bach family: father Johann Sebastian and son Carl Philip Emmanuel.
The second half of the programme consists of Romantic music. Johannes and Pieter play pieces by two other musical siblings: Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn. To end the concert, they perform compositions by husband and wife Robert and Clara Schumann.
In addition to these family duos, they perform the famous composition ‘Fratres’ by Arvo Pärt: a piece that could not be absent from this duo programme played by two brothers.

Johann Sebastian Bach – Suite for cello solo in C major BWV 1009
Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach – Sonata for keyboard in C minor
Arvo Pärt – Fratres (arr. Dietmar Schwalke)

Felix Mendelssohn – Adagio from Sonata for cello and piano no. 2 in D major op. 58
Fanny Mendelssohn – Fantasie in G minor for cello and piano
Robert Schumann – Fünf Stücke im Volkston op. 102
Clara Schumann – Three Romances for violin and piano op. 22 (arr. Pieter Bogaert)

Unfortunately, all concerts are cancelled due to the ongoing Corona crisis, but Johannes and Pieter will bring Fratres to the stage as soon as possible.
